The satellite communications business has grown incrementally and proportionally with the power technologies available from a $36 Billion industry in 1998 to over a $100 Billion in 2008. 2. Routinely rescuing and moving mis-launched satellites to their intended orbits. Over the past decades, there have been on average 2 mis-launched satellites every year that could have been rescued, instead of being a total loss and left as shiny space junk. Recent years have seen such stranded, otherwise usable satellites with a value over $5 Billion.
